Women's Day 2025
Bio of Vivian Wesson
Arranged by Lady Valesa Wells
This Gospel bearer, Dr. Vivian Wesson, is one admired as a Vessel of Honor. She is a vessel who has yielded herself as wife to Bishop Fred Wesson, as mother of four, grandmother of four, and faithful member of Westhaven Community Church where her husband is pastor and she assists him there in the gospel ministry during his current illness.
Our speaker is a vessel who has yielded herself to the pursuit of education and the formal study of religious belief which is evidenced in her having obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree, two Masters Degrees, and a Doctoral Degree in Theology.
She is a vessel of honor who has also yielded herself to share the gift of teaching: first to the Memphis City School System where she served twelve years and then for ten years as founder and organizer of her own school, the Frederick Douglas Christian Academy with grades Preschool through High School.
Since the late 70’s, this sanctified vessel has yielded herself to evangelism and the ministry of God’s Word. Her passion is teaching the Word of God for the purpose of building the people of God. Her desire is to guide people to their fullest potential in God’s Kingdom so that they may then reach out and touch the lives of others. For this purpose, she founded the Rhema Outreach Ministries which is dedicated to building and mentoring men and women for the Kingdom of God. She has taught Women’s Community Discipleship where women come from all over the Mid-South to be taught and trained in Scripture. Understanding the importance of adapting to new ways to reach the lost, she hosts a weekly Facebook Live worship service at the Westhaven Community Church @ 10 am on Sundays. Then on Tuesday nights she holds a virtual Kingdom Word for Kingdom Living Bible Study Broadcast 7-8 pm. She has served as Director of Christian Education under three pastors including her husband, Bishop Freddie Wesson.
For years, she has yielded herself to the service of the Church Of God In Christ where she has held various offices at the District, Jurisdictional, and National levels. She is currently blessed to service as the Jurisdictional Supervisor of the Department of Women in the Tennessee Southwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction under the Jurisdictional Bishop William S. Wright. Most recently, she has been appointed by General Supervisor Barbara McCoo Lewis to serve on several committees in the Church’s International Department of Women: a. Resolution Committee. b. the Curriculum Review Committee and 3. The COGIC International Women’s Department Handbook Committee.
Doctor, Author (Latest book, Saved but Lost in the Church), Conference Speaker, Revivalist, Teacher, Supervisor of Women, Wife, Mother, Grandmother….all of these she is…but if you will allow me to add to this list…anointed vessel of God.
